Swastik, in general, is believed to be an amalgam of the words Su and Asati. Su means ‘good’ and Asati meant ‘to exist’. As per Sanskrit grammar rules, the words Su and Asati when amalgamated into one word become Swasti (as in the case of Su and Aaatam becoming Swagatam meaning welcome). Thus, the literal meaning of the term Swastika would be ‘let goodness-prevail.
You may place it in your Puja altar in the North East corner of your home/office or hang on the wall facing west direction or wrap in a red cloth and carry it along with you. You may install it with or without a frame. Ritualistic worship is not compulsory and is up to you as per the spiritual discipline you follow.
